Hagerty’s Own E-Type

While researching the gauntlet panel/shift dome/shift tower for our E-Type I decided to lookup McKeel Hagerty’s own 1966 E-Type.

That’s because his car is a 20,000-mile, original-paint and original-interior survivor.

The car is almost completely untouched from original delivery minus a few items like hoses, clamps, ignition loom and header tank.

Here it is pictured from the 2015 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. Chassis 1E11307 for reference.

BJ8 Restoration: Part 6: Chassis Buildup

Our long-term Healey BJ8 restoration is ready for the engine and interior.

Since our last post the suspension, steering, wiring harness, dashboard and rear shroud have been installed.

Some notable additions include a Fuel Flow maintenance-free fuel pump, the autosparks wiring harness with alternator, radio and fog light mods, a 3.9 Dennis Welsh rear axle, and a wooden dashboard finished by Coventry Woodworks.

Today we picked up our Healey 3000 engine from Mid-Island Engine and Machine in Duncan.

Scott and Chuck have a great facility and have proven extremely capable for this job.

They gave us a breif tour of the shop which had some pretty impressive machines.

For our Healey engine, Mid-Island balanced all the rotating masses, grinded the valves and fit new hardned valve seats.

Today was the GAIN group’s Vancouver Island Motor Gathering & Classic Car Show held at the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit.

The is the first event to largely welcome the public to the somewhat private facility recently buily in Cowichan.

Almost the entire track was littered with interesting cars and the garage was reserved for cars completed by Rudi & Company.
